On some days when it's extra cold, you might feel like it can get any worse than this. But hold on to that thought because we're about to tell you about the coldest place on earth. And as unbelievable as it might sound, people actually live here.
This place records an average temperature of -50 in January, but thanks to climate change that even that data has changed. This time, the place touched near-record low temperatures, - 62C literally breaking the thermometer.
Just recently, a new electronic thermometer stopped working after it recorded -62C. The locals, however, claim that it dropped a couple of digits after that and touched -68C.
More than 500 people live in this village, surviving the absurdities of temperature - pen ink freezing, glasses breaking, batteries losing power and so on. Even lower temperatures are recorded in Antarctica, but this is the only place with inhabited settlements.
TBH, we're feeling cold just reading about this place, we wonder how people living there are coping with the freezing cold (quite literally)!
